Since 1999 Antonella De Gregoriis has been part of the Perth local music scene. During this time she has attended the Music Industry Skills Course and Sound Production course, held at Leederville TAFE. From this experience she gained a great deal of knowledge and courage to enter the Perth original music scene.
In March 2000, along with three other TAFE students, as a TAFE project she was part of the successful team “Puppy Love Promotions” that organised “The Big Night Out”, held at the Grosvenor Hotel (front and back room). Over 800 people attended the event.
From June 2000 to November 2000 she was approached to manage one of Perth’s most popular heavy bands Full Scale Deflection. After the success of “The Big Night Out” on the 7th October 2000 Antonella and a team of five people organised “Paca’s Big Night Out” raising money for people against child abuse, which was held again at the Grosvenor Hotel. Raising over $1500 for the organization.
On the 11th of November 2000 Antonella organised the Full Scale Deflection “Symptoms of Chaos” CD Launch. Over ten of the most popular heavy acts in WA performed to a full house in the Grosvenor Hotels back room.
From November 2000 she was the manager of Karnivool who have become WA’s most popular and successful heavy act. Throughout her time with the band she also acted as their tour manager, promoter and publicist. Since December 2000 to 2005 Antonella was the treasurer on the WA Music Managers Forum (MMF) Committee, which has given knowledge and support throughout her years in the industry and then become the WA representative before the organization went through some major changes.
From July 2003-September 2004 Antonella worked closely with The Honeyriders to help them with their first LP release and build their national profile. Toured nationally with The John Butler Trio and The Eels.
Since Jan 2004 to 2006 she has also been managing Leigh Miller who is a double bassist/arranger/composer, playing for the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. Leigh is also a session musician and recently toured with Olivia Newton-John.
Trough 2005 to 2009 Antonella was the treasurer, regional and events manager for the Next Big Thing Band Competition, which launched many WA artist’s careers like John Butler, Fourth Floor Collapse, Snowman, The Chemist and many more.
Currently Antonella is managing Sleeping Giant, which features current and ex members from a concoction of heavy noisemakers like Jimmy T: founding member of aussie rock heavyweights Full Scale Deflection (AKA Full Scale) and ex guitarist fro American post hardcore heroes Helmet; Leigh Miller : ex Mr Miagi, current Vdelli bassit, who has worked with Goyte, Karnivool, Olivia Newton John; Christian Parkinson: ex Battlecat vocalist who has shared the stage with bands like Birds of Tokyo, Gyroscope, Karnivool, Shihad and many more; Chris Webber: ex Crawlspace drummer who had several hit singles on Triple J high rotation and has toured with bands like Grinspoon, Pacifier, The Whitlams, Matchbox 20, Cold Chisel and many more.
Currently a WAM board member, where she is actively involved with the direction and strategic planning of the organistion. WAM is a non for profit organization and the peak body for contemporary music in WA. WAM holds several events each year like the WAMi Festival, SOTY, Sundowner Series just to name a few.
